ELTON ON THE HILL

There is just a single Belvoir Angel stone here; beautifully carved and in really good condition. 'Be Ye Ready' is carved across the top of the stone.

'Here lies ye body of Francis ye son of Nicolas Bool by Ellin his wife who departed this life April the 6th 1728 aged 2 years'

This gravestone has sunk in to the ground and the last couple of lines of the epitaph is lost below ground level. The whole thing should read as follows...

'Who would not fear death who is so bold that takes away ye breath of young and old But be not so convern'd nor so complain because I hope that we shall meet again'
