HARSTON

There is just a single Vale of Belvoir Angel stone to be found here. It is to one William Stevenson who passed away at the age of 87 years. A great achievement in those days, especially considering that; in being born in 1622 he would have lived through the English Civil War and the Bubonic Plague, both of which led to great loss of life.

There is even the chance that he might have fought in the civil wat himself. What history he could tell!

This stone reads 'Here lies the body of William Stevenson who died March ye 29th 1709 aged 87 years'

Across the top is inscribed 'Come Ye Blessed'. Further down it reads 'All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change shall come'. This is another Bible verse that the masons here used to use regularly; this one is Job Chapter 14 verse 14.
