MUSTON 

A cold, frosty day in December 2012, and a visit to the church of St John The Baptist, Muston, Leicestershire. This was the first Vale Of Belvoir headstone that I had seen. It marks the grave of one John Chamberlin, who passed away in 1698, at the age of 86 years; an advanced age for those times. Two symbols of mortality can be seen to top left and right; the hour glass and crossed bones.

The damaged writing across the top reads 'Grieve not for me my glass is run. It is the lord his will be done'. 

This stone reads 'Here lies interred the body of John Chamberlin who departed this life September 29th 1698 in the 86th year of his age'.
