RATCLIFFE ON THE WREAKE

There is a single Belvoir Angel stone here, another of what was called a variant design.

The angel here, and the stone as a whole to be honest, is fairly basic compared to others of the more typical style. The stone itself is fairly weathered and difficult to read.

The stone is for two wives of Peter Webster, with a vertical column for each of his wives. It reads 'Here lieth the body of Martha the wife of Peter Webster who departed this life May 19 1695 aged 25'

Also the second wife of Peter Webster was interr'd here Jan 26th 1715 aged 57'

An interesting grave; I wonder why his second wife is not named on this stone?
